First Friday Artist Teresa Dirks Not Only Paints, She Also Bakes!
August 2, First Friday at Old Drum Gallery.
Warrensburg, MO, August 2, 2013, 5-9 p.m./Teresa Dirks' Art/-
The gallery show "Slight Spectrum" brilliantly showcases Teresa Dirks' bold use of abstract color in a variety of media. For First Friday at Old Drum Gallery, Dirks has chosen framed watercolor, mixed media, and acrylic canvas.
Dirks work parallels a connection to the horizon, its inherent promise and harmony. Dirks states, "My art has come to symbolize that inner strength and connection to my years spent living where you always see the sun slide off the vivid horizon."
Dirks' art will be displayed during the month of August and open on the First Friday at Old Drum Gallery, 128 N. Holden, Warrensburg, MO. Dirks invites you in to see her art work and sample her baked goodness. Dirks catered some years ago and is well known for her specialty desserts in her hometown area.
About Teresa Dirks' Art
Born in Southeast MO, Dirks spent many years living in a rural setting. She taught environmental education in the Bootheel and then art education in public school. Her art deeply reflects the time spent living in the country and her love of nature, its vibrancy . . . the power of color and its effect on our lives. As society and technology merge, Dirks says, “it is now more important than ever to connect with nature and its healing properties.” For over twenty years she has been driven to paint and create. In 2011, her art was selected for the Missouri Arts Council Poster Award and was featured on 2012 MAC publications.
